The technical library
The Captain's Log tells the story of the work. This section holds the drawings and reference material behind it: how the electrical system is meant to work, what belongs to the engine, and eventually how the sails and rigging are arranged.
Some of these pages will begin as working plans. As the work is completed, they will be updated to show what is actually aboard Swallow. That distinction matters; a plan is useful, but an as-built drawing is what we will need when something stops working later.
Electrical system
The dual-bank battery architecture, shore-power system, monitoring network, wire and fuse schedule, and the drawings that tie them together.
Monitoring
Battery state, shore power, bilge and temperature alarms, and eventually the boat's location and other useful telemetry when nobody is aboard.
Maintenance log
Every service, modification and renewal with a date against it — and, just as usefully, an honest list of what has never been touched. She came to us with no service history; this is the start of one.
Boat operations
The sequence from arriving at the berth to sailing, and from preparing to return until Swallow is secure, connected and locked.
Engine plans
The cooling, fuel, exhaust, starting and charging systems around the M20, built out as we identify each component and trace the plumbing and wiring.
Sail plan
The sail inventory, dimensions, reefing arrangements and the working plan for how the boat is set up to sail.
Standing and running rigging
Rigging dimensions, terminal details, line routes and the eventual as-built record of the re-rig and deck hardware.
